This tour is a carefully crafted adventure that blends city sights, natural wonders, and unforgettable wildlife encounters. Departing bright and early from Sydney’s iconic Central Railway Station, guests are treated to a guided introduction to the city’s most famous landmarks—including Hyde Park, the NSW Parliament House, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge—before leaving the city behind for the rugged beauty of the Hawkesbury River region!
After a brief comfort stop at the legendary ‘Twin Servo’s’, the tour continues north into the heart of the Port Stephens region, land of the traditional Worimi people, and home to the breathtaking Stockton Bight sand dunes—the largest moving sand dune system in the Southern Hemisphere. Here, friendly local 4WD guides from Port Stephens 4WD Tours welcome passengers to an exhilarating sandboarding session that caters to all ages, offering plenty of laughs and adrenaline.
Once the sand is brushed off, the journey continues to Nelson Bay, the charming coastal village that serves as the departure point for a dolphin discovery cruise with Moonshadow TQC Cruises. Port Stephens’ resident pod of 160 bottlenose dolphins awaits, and guests can snap unforgettable photos of these playful marine mammals surfing the boat’s bow waves, with the occasional cheeky wink from a dolphin or two.
From pelicans to sea eagles and even the odd seal, the 90-minute cruise promises a marine wonderland filled with expert commentary and smiles all around. During the warmer months, guests can even take a refreshing dip in the boom net—just remember to pack a change of clothes.
After soaking up the best of the sea, there’s time to unwind and enjoy the scenic surrounds of Port Stephens before boarding the coach once more. As the sun dips lower, it’s time to recline the seat and drift off to the gentle hum of the coach as it rolls south, returning to Sydney with hearts full and cameras bursting. One Perfect Day? Itinerary
- 7:00am – Depart Sydney and travel across the Sydney Harbour Bridge for a scenic drive along the spectacular NSW Central Coast.
- 10:30am – Arrive on the traditional lands of the Worimi people in the tranquil coastal village of Nelson Bay.
- Depart on 90-minute Dolphin Discovery Cruise with Moonshadow Cruises on the turquoise blue waters of Port Stephens, a veritable marine wonderland.
- 12:15pm – You will enjoy an Aussie style lunch in the natural view. Vegetarian option available.
- 1:00pm – Depart Nelson Bay and travel to the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary
- 2:00pm – Depart the Koala Sanctuary for the sand dunes and a 4WD adventure.
- 2:15pm – Our final stop is at the world-renowned Stockton sand dunes
- 3:30pm – Depart for Sydney
- 7:00pm – Arrive back in Sydney
