G’Day Mate! You have become one of the less then 1% of past snorkellers and divers to write us a review. Good or bad thanks for taking the time and effort. Over the past 15 years we have taken over 20,000 snorkellers and divers to see the Great Barrier Reef. So of the less then 0.2% of reviews 2 stars or less, 99.8% of our snorkellers and divers must be at least satisfied with what we offer. So if your looking for the best value and cheapest overnight snorkeling and Scuba dive trip to the GBR have look at Rum Runner. Like they say “you get what you paid for” You get: 3 to 4 different reef sites to snorkeling and upto 6 scuba dives including night dive. ( is this not the reason why your booking a trip? We are all about the snorkeling and diving on the GBR, so if your after 5 star luxury vessel try elsewhere) Old Charming Rum Runner which has been travelling to the GBR and beyond for the last 40 years. Experienced captains, young dive crew, great meals, quality scuba gear, small group size, basic single bed with clean linens, and great memories. Like they say “you can’t please everyone all the time”....... we try, we really really really try hard to please everyone, 99.8% can’t be wrong!

Awesome dives

Hitting the reef was the goal, but RumRunners made it even that much better! We enjoyed the entire experience that was lead by the feisty skipper James. We had amazing meals that James cooked and very well lead dives. There was also a snorkling component for those that don’t dive as well which was really nice. Overall AWESOME!

Excellent on all fronts

Very knowledgeable crew, excellent food, and a great price. Can’t really beat what the rum runner offers, small groups makes the dives more personal, was able to navigate a few of my own dives. Captain was awesome and a great cook. Just a great experience. :)

Had diving fun, but would NOT recommend it!

I feel like I have to write a review, because 4.8 of 5 is waaaay too much for this low budget trip. Start with this: the captain is a real A-hole and although he tries to be nice (ow no, he just hates people) to the guests he just fucks up the atmosphere conpletely for the whole boat. We shared our thoughts with the others on board and they had the same uncomfortable feeling. it doesnt matter if the captain reads this, because he wont change. my advice to him: if u hate people don't work with them. especially dont live on board with them... if something happened in your life I feel sorry for you, but there are steel good people outside this world (you wont believe it) summarize: equipment is good, diving was fun, food is good, most of the crew are great (5 stars for them), sleeping beds and sanitary suck big time but okay for a night (it was low budget so you can expect this). diving is fun and meeting people is great, but with this captain on board you feel like you have to walk on your toes the whole time. Dont expect a chil vibe with relaxed music on this boat. just dive or snorkel and enjoy the underwater world: Thats it. PLEASE SAVE UR MONEY! p.s. RumRunner: you dont have to comment on this, because you should feel (as captain) the text written above is sad, but true..

Mixed feelings

Well... Me and my friend got eaten by bed bugs, so we couldn't sleep and we found more of them in our luggage after we left. My bath towel mysteriously disappeared, from our cabin. On the upside the staff was nice and the food surprisingly good. The diving/snorkeling sessions had a good length and it was interesting to visit 4 different areas. My advice, check if the bed bugs are still there, if not, go for it. :D

Thanks for the review Frida, JP the skipper does do a good trip and food. He did mention this issue after your trip on the 30th May. Sorry about that! Since then we have had our pest people in to give us the all clear. We not sure why but it just seem too be just that one cabin you were both in! They sealed it for a week and all good. Thanks again for the review and to recommend others to "go for it" Jason
