Discover the history and contemporary uses of Melbourne's most famous parks and gardens and learn about the many native animals that continue to live in the heart of the city.

You will begin this guided tour at the world heritage listed Carlton Gardens. The tour then heads off through seven beautiful inner-city parks and past several of Melbourne's most iconic structures including the Royal Exhibition Building, Cooks Cottage, the MCG, the Federation Bells and the Shrine of Remembrance.​ The hike will finish off at Federation Square​, a thriving hub for arts, culture and public events while also home to some of Melbourne's great restaurants.

  • The hike is approximately 8 kms
  • The grade is easy and flat with good walking surfaces
  • There are plenty of public facilities available along the hike route
  • Meeting point:

    Please meet at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton Gardens. Your tour guide will be standing next to the grand fountain south of the main building and will have hiking poles so you don't miss them!
