St Kilda Route
Real highlights, tips, and the helpful advice straight from Bookme customers who’ve actually done this experience.
There are 2 routes, 1 for the main city and then 1 that goes off down to St Kilda to the beach and surrounding areas. Both are 2 hours long and follow on from each other so if you want to remain on the same bus you can do. Really informative and great if you don't want to walk too much!
Good tour around the city
We booked this for 24 hours. Was ok. Don't rely on times to be picked up from areas. We waited over an hour at one stop. One driver was fantastic but the last driver was so fast that the commentary was talking about areas when you had already passed them. He was driving so fast with hard acceleration and breaking that we got off and onto a free tram.
Despite having good customer service with friendly drivers, the buses themselves are not that good. You better be lucky to get an empty seat upstairs otherwise you'll end downstairs, where it is super hot (especially in summer!) because there is no A/C and only tiny windows. Also, the windows of the bus I took were covered by ads which make it hard to see outside. It doesn't make sense because we actually pay a lot to effectively SIGHTSEE the touristic points. I took the St Kilda bus during summer while it was 33 degrees outside (and much higher temperature inside the bus) and I had a super uncomfortable experience, for this price I'd rather had rented a car.
