Experience the adventure of a lifetime on an exciting 3 hour Dolphin and Seal Swim cruise on the sheltered shallow waters of Port Phillip Bay.

Experience the adventure of a lifetime on an exciting 3 hour Dolphin and Seal Swim cruise on the sheltered shallow waters of Port Phillip Bay.

Highlights

  • Swim and interact with wild seals and dolphins
  • Includes all snorkelling equipment and full length wetsuit
  • Enjoy lunch, snacks and drinks while cruising
  • See some of Victorias most famous coastal scenery

Meet your tour guides at Sorrento Pier, collect your equipment and then board the luxury ‘Moonraker.’ Where you can meet your captain and check in onboard.

We throw off the rope as cruise into the sheltered shallow waters of Port Phillip Bay. Once onboard you can relax on the upper sundeck, inside lounge area or taking in the salt air on the front of the boat in a beanbag lounge.

As we cruise out into the Bay your snorkel guides will walk you through all the activities, help familiarise you with the boat and all the features and areas to explore and then we gear up and get ready to slid into the water.

We visit the Australian Fur Seals and search the coastal locations for the resident dolphins.

We love the Australian fur seals and these friendly, fun and inquisitive Seals are just as special as the dolphins. The clear shallow waters surrounding the boat are filled with seals of all ages and sizes, the seal structures often attract small sea stars, giant smooth rays which glide beneath on the seafloor and sometimes spider crabs at one of the structures. You will come face to face with these inquisitive animals and this experience is something that you will remember for life.

Once back onboard we serve lunch, hot drinks and snacks ensuring you’re energised and ready for our next snorkel. Once the dolphins are located we observe their behaviour and location before we approach the pod.

In small groups of 10, we slide quietly into the water, floating on the surface. We wait, watch and listen for the dolphin's squeaks and whistles to get louder, a sign that they will join us and swim beneath our group. Each and every encounter is totally unique. Being wild and free, Each encounter is entirely based on what the dolphins are doing when located, sometimes they will swim around us for endless minuets and other times they will glide past for a look and continue swimming, We spend as much time with them as possible both swimming and sightseeing but need to ensure we are not changing their behaviour or lifestyle. The dolphins are resident to Port Phillip Bay however they are completely wild and aren’t always located on every cruise. We believe this is part of the experience of seeking out an encounter with wild animals. Should you not see the dolphins on your tour you are welcome to come back for free anytime within 30 days.

All our cruises include a variety of inclusions at no additional cost! So your cruise ticket is all you need to pay, we include lunch, snacks and drinks marine park fees and taxes

For guests who are unable to swim this activity is not suitable for you and we recommend you travel as a sightseeing guests. You will still have a fantastic experience and see all the wildlife just from the comfort of the boat.

Great day

Had a great time today. Crew were great, nice and friendly. First stop was seeing the seals and swimming with them. Next was chasing for the dolphins - we didn't actually get to go into the water with them as they kept moving away from us lol. Third stop was in a small cove area where we were shown weedy seedeagons and saw a puffer fish.

Bucket List Item Ticked

Still buzzing from yesterday (Sunday 20/02/22 8:30am session). Was a 5am start for us from home, but glad because there was heaps of parking ($5 for half day. Can get ticket from office if having trouble with PayStay app). I'm sure there was free all day parking around if you looked too. The crew were awsome and really wanna help you experience the best with the dolphins. After getting an incredible first run, we had to chase them around to find them again for a bit. Don't worry, you'll get multiple chances and the crew won't move on until ppl are satisfied. Also they have a guarantee so you can come back if you don't see any dolphins. We saw them while waiting on the pier. Seals were more chill experience, although current was a bit strong for me, but I'm not a great swimmer. They have heaps of floatation devices though. I thought the early morning was gonna be freezing, so I wore heaps of thermals underneath. I'd never wore a wetsuit before so didn't know how they worked i.e. once the cold water enters the suit, your body heats that water, and it doesn't escape. My only take away for next time is to make sure I space myself out in the water, but that could have been my group (or me really). Ppl kept bumping into me. Spose it is pretty disorientating not only being in the water but looking out for the animals, having your head out of water to hear their directions, but having it underwater to see. Can't wait for next time, already pumped!!! 2 toliets and Cafe on board (toastie $9 each). P.S. If you've never used a snorkel before, and are a worrier like me, you can buy a cheap one and use it in a pool to get a feel for it. I'm sure there a videos online for tips. Having your own that you are used to already could help you be more comfortable in the water to get the best experience.

Average experience

We did get to see seals and dolphins and the crew do make every attempt to try and get you swimming with the dolphins so I’ll give them a tick there. But the wetsuits are in dire need of an upgrade. I was given one much too big for myself and even going back and asking if it was okay, I was told it was fine (the girl really didn’t care). The wetsuit had started pilling massively in the crotch area so there was pretty much a hole, which was not ideal in the freezing waters. There were far too many people booked on the tour. The boat was crammed and there just wasn’t enough space. This also led to a lot of waiting around for your turn to get a chance to swim with the dolphins, as they only allow ten people at a time. The coffee, tea and hot chocolate is unlimited but get in there before some kid puts four spoons full of chocolate into his drink and takes it all. There are no showers or change rooms on the boat as stated on here, you’ll be getting changed on the pier so be ready for that. With the bookme discount plus the 25% Vic Gov cash back I got this for $75pp. I definitely wouldn’t pay $185 for it which is the full price booking direct with Moonraker and would be extremely disappointed with the tour if I had. For 75 bucks, then yeah whatever not bad.

Poor communication

The day of the booking was canceled due to bad weather. They contacted me via email to change to a different day. The options didn't suit me, so I replied to them asking for other options. No reply. I emailed them directly, still no reply. I emailed the day I left Melbourne explaining my disappointment especially seems as though I work in the travel industry, but still to this day, yup, no reply. So, if I could give no stars, I would.
