Come and enjoy a half day relaxing self-guided kayak or SUP down the mountain fed Babinda Creek, 50 minutes south of Cairns. Suitable for ages 2 and above!

Highlights

  • Choose either a single kayak (can upgrade to a double) or Stand Up Paddle Board
  • Chance to see turtles, fish and even the elusive platypus!
  • Take it at your own pace, swimming and stopping at the beaches
  • Chrystal clear water

Babinda, situated in World Heritage listed Wooroonooran National Park, is a 50 minute drive or train ride south of Cairns. Nestled in the stunning valley between Queensland's two highest mountains, Mt Bartle Frere and Mt Bellenden Kerr, the permanently flowing mountain streams provide a rare opportunity to experience the beauty of Mother Nature's masterpiece.

Here is your opportunity to hire either kayaks or SUPs and embark on a one way Self Guided Tour down these amazing waters. Babinda Creek's crystal clear water is teeming with turtles, fish and the elusive Platypus. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic experience without breaking the bank. 'Let the gentle current take you downstream, take on a couple of mini rapids (or ripples!) along the way, stop on a sandy beach for a snack and a swim, then float downstream to your pick-up point'

This could be just about the most relaxing kayaking trip you will ever experience!

Your Half day tour departs at 8am or 1.30pm from which you will spend approximately 4 hours making your way downstream on crystal clear waters. Watch the stream come alive with life, stop on secluded beaches for a snack and a swim and then make your way to the pick-up point where you will be collected and driven back to your car.

*For safety reasons the minimum booking number is 2 people*

Absolutely Awesome Experience

This was our second time and it was even better than the first. The owner is a really top bloke and makes you feel welcome the minute you meet him. We will definitely be back. It is now our favourite activity in Cairns.

Fantastic day out, beautiful cool fresh crystal clear waters with stunning scenery of the mountains all around. You can take your time floating down stream, stopping at one of the sand banks for a swim. We loved it & will come back again

What a lovely host and experience

Such a lovely way to spend a hot humid afternoon. The river was clear and beautiful, teaming with wildlife. I almost forgot to paddle at times!! Paul was the best host, the ice creams he provided at the end made for a perfect trip. If you are ever in the UK Paul, get in touch and I will show you UK Kingfishers on our local rivers!
