The Park includes José Paronella’s castle, picnic area by the falls, tennis courts, bridges, and a tunnel, all surrounded by a lush rainforest of 7,500 tropical plants and trees.

Arriving in Australia from Catalonia, Spain in 1913, José Paronella created the intricate gardens and castle for the enjoyment of the public. The Park was officially opened in 1935 after years of unswerving labour, built with a movie theatre and hall for dances and parties. José planted upwards to 7,000 trees in the park, including magnificent Kauris, highlighting the stunning Teresa Falls.

Must visit

The gardens and the remaining ruins of the castle were fascinating Built beside a waterfall You are given a 35 minute tour with a guide Mandy and she explains the history behind the Paronella park. Then your left alone to explore park on your own A trip worth doing. The drive from Cairns to the park was a long drive about 1 he 45min but it was very scenic. A must do if in Cairns. The experience was amazing. So keep the park memories alive by going to see it.
