5 Day PADI Open Water Dive Course - incl. 3 day 2 Night Stay on the Outer Reef

Book with Cairns Dive Centre for a 5 day course and become a PADI certified scuba diver! Cairns Dive Centre have been teaching divers since 1983, and is recognised as a PADI 5-star learning facility. You will spend 2 days at our facility and 3 days & 2 nights on the reef!
You will stay for 3 days and 2 night onboard our live-aboard vessel Kangaroo Explorer. Here you will complete all 4 dives to complete the course. You will also get to enjoy 5 fun dives after you complete the course, or you may wish to utilise those 5 dives to complete your PADI Advanced Diver course for an extra $195, or the PADI Adventure Diver course (3 dives) for an extra $160
The first 2 days of your course are conducted in our PADI 5 star learning air conditioned facility dive school. Training sessions take place in the specially designed DIVE pool. Next we take your learning from the pool and onto the Reef!
This Open Water Course is a unique to CDC, offering the student 9 outer Great Barrier Reef dives.
Course structure:
- Day 1 - 8:00am Classroom then Pool
- Day 2 - 8:00am Pool then Classroom
- Day 3 - 5 Staying onboard KANGAROO EXPLORER on the Outer Reef to complete your course and fun dives
Your purchase includes:
- Gaining your PADI Open Water Dive Certification
- Day trip to Fitzroy Island
- 3 days and 2 nights aboard the Kangaroo Explorer Liveaboard on the Outer Great Barrier Reef, including meals
- 9 dives
- 5 star training facility
- A whole lot of fun!
Extras not included:
- $20 per day Government Reef Levy while onboard the Kangaroo Explorer (pay direct to operator on the day)
- Optional upgrade while onboard the Kangaroo Explorer to the PADI Adventure Diver course (3 dives) $195

Price: $880 +$60 Reef Levy & Admin Fee
$60 Reef Levy & Admin Fee is not included in the prices below and payable direct to the operator on the day
Important information: Attached to your booking is an admin form, if you answer ‘YES’ to any of the medical questions you will be required to obtain a Queensland recreational dive medical clearance from a doctor – there are several qualified practitioners within Cairns who can help with this.
Minimum age: 12 years
If due to medical reasons you are unable to take part in the course we will issue you a full refund for your booking (if a medical is obtained 48 hours before the course)
If you fail 1st day (medical/swimming test) you will forfeit $100 forfeit of the fee

I had a wonderful and most memorable time with my new friends! It was good value for money, learning about diving in the Open Water course and upgrading to add the Advanced dive course. The CDC staff were friendly, flexible, encouraging and lived up to deliver FUN - close second only to safety, and separated only by the thickness of a piece of paper ;) It felt like a little family, you weren't just another customer. The food was delicious! (Thanks Chef!) The gear was of good quality and well-maintained. BONUS: We were fortunate that weather, wind and underwater visibility were on our side to add to the most perfect experience. Highly recommend the live-aboard experience with CDC!

Absolutely awesome!
An absolutely brilliant few days out on the reef having done our PADI open water pool and theory sessions the previous days. Got to see some great wildlife including a few (tiny) sharks! Loved the live aboard lifestyle with great crew although will sad to see the Kangaroo Explorer retire! Would defonitely recommend to all.
