It's all about the journey not so much about the destination. The train ride on the way up to Kuranda gives you spectacular waterfall views. The skyrail on the way down gives you a beautiful view of the rainforest from above. Kuranda village doesn't add much to the experience but there are some nice rainforest walks.
From pick up to drop off the whole experience was amazing. The highlight of the tour for me was the train ride up and the highlight for my husband and grand daughter was the Skyrail back. Well worth the tour.
we were in the 1 carriage right beside the engine, but I didn't mind the smell. It seems this company always book you to sit in front. If you have a teenage kids better to ask them first before you do this train trip, as the train were full with babies & toddlers, and the steam train more excited for them, even the activities up there in the Kuranda village more suited little kids. The shops their quite expensive as double the prices than you buy in Cairns city.
Shuttle driver very polite and experienced. Explain lot of info about local history, nature, ect. Train was amazing, historical carriages, railway, lookouts just perfect. In Kuranda we took long jungle and jum rum walk , butterfly sanctuary, short walk around local markets to buy some presents. After that we took skyrail down to Smithfield, where we wait for bus app. 15 min. Since we took a long walk, I would appreciate 1 hour more for Kuranda free time. We were little bit in hurry.
I really enjoyed the experience, very informative and pleasant. The food could be a little bit better but overall worth the experience.
My granddaughter and I had a amazing day. She loved the train and the gondola.
Great day out, your driver was very informative and friendly. He was very much on time explained everything where we need to be and and gave us a running commentary on what was happening around us when we were driving.
Although it was heavily raining, the performers tried their best to explain and entertain the visitors.
This place has really developed. We came when it first opened, but to see it now, the facilities are first class. The theater presentation was impressive and set the scene. The dancing was interactive and enjoyable. Kids loved the spear and boomerang throwing. Worth the visit.
This was definitely a unexpected highlight of our family holiday where we were given the opportunity too experience the wonder of our indigenous culture,it was informative and delightful. Our guide Kookaburra made us laugh and enjoy our time together as he explained the wonders of his Culture. Our daughters participated in the art and got to take away a wonderful token and beautiful memory of there time spent here today. The staff were so friendly, the dancers were amazing and everyone was there working together to make our day one too remember. Our family would highly recommend this tour
The show was informative and very interactive. It was great that the audience was encouraged to be involved. The best part is the spear throw before dinner! And the food...yum! Where else do you have the opportunity try emu, crocodile and kangaroo all in the one place? The buffet was delicious and also well signed for gluten free and vegetarian options (which was almost everything too).
From start to finish you are immersed in the beautiful culture that is the Aboriginal. Their culture is one that is desirable and to the high tech world that is our current this is an eye opener to how simple but beautiful life could be . I would love to experience the actual Aboriginal cultural lifestyle for a few days. It is a beautiful culture which teaches love and respect for the land we live on. From bush medicines to food from hunting and gathering to celebrating within a tribe. An experience which is a must for those who want to experience the Real Australia and how Australia should be before it was taken over. A great learning experience for kids as well as adults.
Unusual, interesting, great evening - 1st class food! Was so inspired went back the next day to do the tour round the Tjapukai village to learn more - another brilliant experience.
I love coming to this very special place. Always fun and always learn something new. Wish everybody could go at least once. Important part of our culture.
Cant beat this excellent lunch. Real taste treat. The personal guide to aboriginal cultire was fun and I learnt so much. Best experience besides the reef.
Thankyou to all the Tjapukai staff for the awesome customer service? our experience was amazing? would definitely recommend this place, our favourite part was learning to throw a boomerang that my 7 year old had painted herself in the creations activity? would also recommend to go in the afternoon to miss all the tourist buses in the morning? we arrived at 9.30 and caught some of the afternoon shows and found it better with a smaller group?
We had a great day. Ended up spending the whole day pretty much. Was a quiet day so we got the most out of it. The kids enjoyed the boomerang & jewellery making. Boomerang and spear throwing was fun. Staff were great . Friendly and helpful. Food was great. Big servings. The visual show was fantastic. Wish it went longer as there would’ve been so many stories to tell. Overall a great day and I’m glad we went .
Had an awesome evening, participating in the song and dance was an emotional experience, getting our faces painted up and tapping along to the beat with the rhythm sticks provided made it an evening to remember. I am still humming the chants weeks after the experience. The buffet meal was incredible with fresh local prawns and beautifully marinated croc steaks to mention only a few of the range provided. Highly recommend.
This was a great experience, our tour guide was very informative and fun. This is a must see when up in cairns.
We haf such a great time here and learned so much. Its a very authentic Australian experience that everyone should have!
I would highly recommend this place. We wanted to teach our kids a little more about indiginous australians that was not just learning from their classroom. What a great practical experience- the people there were friendly and helpful. The best parts were the spear and boomerang throwing. (Thanks Joe!) Also, it was well worth paying extra to paint a boomerang. (Thanks Georgina) The cultural dance show helped us appreciate and understand what they are dancing about and I loved how they got the crowd involved. Well done to the staff there for educating us sbout your culture. Loved it!
Had a great time with my daughter. We both enjoyed our time there. The staff were very friendly and informative. The activities were fun.
So so good the whole experience was fantastic and I am Australian so have seen many shows and corroborees .very professional thanks to all involved kind regards jenny and Colin
Such amazing staff/show/food
A great couple of hours spent. Perfect if your not lucky enough to own a ski boat this gives every child and every adult an opportunity to learn a new skill. Only thing that would give it it's final star is not making learners that don't make it through the bouys to let go, they are just excited they are still upright and from there they could build the skill. But worth it none th bless
Great way to practice wake boarding.
2 weeks in cairns seeing all the sights and doing everything tourists do and this was our 10 and 14 years olds favourite so much so we had to go back a 2nd time!
Such a fun afternoon. The team are super helpful, the cable is unique and so much fun! Lots of obstacles to play on! Cheap beer! Always a win after a beautiful ride and epic views as the sun goes down!
