Twas a slightly rainy overcast Monday with no school holidays so the park numbers were perfect. There were plenty of admission windows open and we waited less than a minute to gain entry. I have been visiting this bird sanctuary for more than 50 years now and it never gets old. Happy to share it with my US family. Saw all the shows and fed the lorikeets. Looking forward to our next visit in a couple of years time.
Absolutely loved our experience at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. From the moment we walked in, you could feel how much care and passion goes into the sanctuary and the animals. The whole place is beautiful, well looked after, and full of things to see and do for all ages. One of the best parts was how interactive everything felt. Being able to get so close to the animals and learn about them made the experience really special. Seeing the kangaroos, koalas, birds, crocodiles and all the Australian wildlife up close was unforgettable. The free-flight bird show was incredible and honestly one of the highlights of the day! you can tell the staff genuinely care about the animals and educating people at the same time. But our absolute highlight was the rainbow parrots. Hand feeding them the sugar milk and having them fly right onto us and get so incredibly close was honestly the best experience ever. It was such a surreal and special moment being surrounded by all the beautiful colours and hearing them chirping around us. It’s one of those memories that sticks with you forever and something we’ll be talking about for a long time. The sanctuary has such a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The staff were kind, welcoming and happy to answer questions, and you could see how passionate they are about conservation and wildlife rescue. It didn’t feel commercialised or rushed, it felt meaningful and enjoyable at the same time. The grounds themselves are stunning too. Everything was clean, easy to navigate and surrounded by beautiful greenery. There were so many little moments throughout the day that made it memorable, especially watching the kids light up seeing animals they’d only ever seen in books or on TV. You can really tell this place is more than just a tourist attraction. The work they do for injured and rescued wildlife is amazing and makes visiting feel even more worthwhile knowing you’re supporting something important. If you’re visiting the Gold Coast, I honestly think Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-do experience. Such a fun, wholesome and memorable day out that we’ll definitely be talking about for a long time. We would absolutely come back again.
