Reef HQ Great Barrier Reef Aquarium is the world's largest living coral reef aquarium and the Australian Government's national education centre for the Great Barrier Reef!
Visitors are often overwhelmed at the complexity of a coral reef. A visit to Reef HQ beforehand makes that first time snorkelling experience all the more amazing
Reef HQ Aquarium also has a dedicated turtle hospital facility where sick and injured marine turtles can be cared for and rehabilitated
Reef HQ Aquarium Features:
- 2.5 million litre Coral Reef Exhibit
- Reef HQ Aquarium Turtle Hospital
- Daily talks and tours designed to educate visitors about the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park (included in the cost of admission)
- Compliments a dive or snorkel trip, allowing divers to enjoy and understand the Great Barrier Reef
- Reef HQ Aquarium is the centre of excellence in marine science research and education
Signature tours are run daily by a team of interpretative guides and volunteers
- 10.30am Predator Dive Show
- 12.00pm Turtle Hospital Talk and Tour
- 2.30pm Animal Feeding Tour
- 3.30pm Turtle Hospital Talk and Tour
Reef HQ Aquarium is open 9.30am - 5.00pm, 7 days a week

Great experience
We really enjoyed our visit. The staff(volunteers) were very knowledgeable,approachable and engaging. The Aquarium was well presented and clean. Well worth the visit.

A fantastic way to get to know the Reef. The talks are so informative and interesting. The corals and fish are so beautiful. Really worth a visit!

Filling in some time
It was a hot day, so I popped in and had a wonder. It is definitely meant for the younger age rather than adults but I did enjoy myself. The talks were good and enjoyed knowing a bit more about turtles and going to the turtle hospital :)

Fabulous Aquarium
This is definitely worth going to and make sure you go to some of the talks. The volunteer staff are extremely knowledgeable and do an amazing job.

Brilliant- Reef Aquarium
Thoroughly enjoyable. Could easily watch the fish for half a day. Wonderful to visit.
