Highlights

  • Experience scenic and historic stops ascending Mount Wellington!
  • Stroll the refreshing Cascade Gardens and pass a historic female convict site
  • Enjoy refreshments with views and history at The Springs
  • Witness the beauty of the wildflowers, snow gums and geology at the Chalet
  • Breath in the fresh air and magnificent views of Tasmania at the Pinnacle

Explore Mt Wellington on this engaging half-day tour, delving into its history, plant life, and geology!

Unlike direct summit tours, this journey features several scenic and historic stops at scenic places on the way up the mountain including the summit. Experience much more than you would on shorter tours that head straight to the summit. You will be in the capable hands of your Tasmanian tour guide, David, whose extensive local knowledge and captivating stories will bring the area to life.

The scenic drive begins at 2 PM from the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre. Travel through historic Hobart, explore Australia’s finest collection of rhododendrons, trees, and lawns at Cascade Gardens, and take a stroll past the Female Factory and Hobart Rivulet, with a chance to spot a platypus!

The tour continues through eucalyptus forests and the town of Ferntree to The Springs, where you can enjoy refreshments and views of Mt Wellington. At the Chalet, admire colourful snow gums and flowering banksias before continuing above the tree line to the summit. Enjoy panoramic views of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and explore the Hobart and South West Wilderness viewing platforms.

The tour concludes with a scenic drive back to Hobart, arriving by 6 PM, just in time for dinner!
