Drive through the beautiful countryside of famous orchards, explore caves, walk among loft treetops, and more in the stunning Hobart region.
Embark on a fun adventure visiting Hobart’s highlights including Huon Valley’s Famous Orchards, Hastings Caves, and walk among the lofty treetops!
Departing Hobart, we’ll make our way into the beautiful Huon Valley. As you pass Huon Valley’s famous Orchards, you’ll see why our island was once referred to as the Apple Isle. Plenty of sights to see as we drive through the windy roads along the tranquil Huon River and through the historic riverside village of Franklin to reach Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs.
Explore Hastings Caves with a qualified guide showcasing the largest dolomite cave open to visitors in Australia. Be on the lookout for stalactites, columns, shawls and stalagmites. Beware the cave is spacious with no small passageways, however, there are 250 stairs with handrails leading in and out of the cave. If exploring the cave gave you the chills, there is a heated swimming pool nearby that is fed by thermal springs and maintains a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius all year. Take a quick dip and get ready for the next adventure!
Next, we’ll make our way through the countryside exploring more of Huon Valley, on our way to Tahune Adventures. Between October and April, we make a stop at the heart of Port Huon, the charming 1932 historic Kermandie Hotel built in 1932 for a delicious lunch and stunning views over the hotel's private marina on the Huon River. During the colder months, we’ll enjoy lunch (not included in price) at the Tahune Adventures café.
After lunch, we’ll explore the Tahune forest for two hours. Walk high among the treetops at Tahune Adventures. On the Huon Pine Trail, you’ll see some of Australia's oldest living trees, swing across a river on the swinging bridge, or travel 30 metres above the forest floor on the Tahune airwalk. Discover how fire has impacted the forest and witness firsthand the natural regeneration that happens in a forest setting. For adrenaline enthusiasts, there is the option to feel the thrill as you’re whisked 250 metres across the Huon River at speeds of up to 40km per hour on the Cable Eagle Hang Glider.
After an adventurous day filled with exploring Southern Tasmania, we’ll make our way back to Hobart. We aim to have you back in Hobart by 5:30pm, giving you plenty of time to rest or embark on a culinary journey and dine at one of Hobart's excellent restaurants.

The tree top walk was fantastic
Had an awesome experience, with a great guide who was super friendly and patient. The tour through the tree tops was the best, with a beautiful sunny day to top it off. Excellent company on the tour as well, which was great.
