  • Full-day Bay of Fires tour from Launceston
  • Visit a lavender farm and try fresh oysters at an oyster farm

Tasmania’s east coast is fast becoming renown around the world for its white beaches, startling blue waters, and bright orange rocks. The Bay of Fires is one of Tasmania’s most beautiful locations. Granite rocky outcrops covered with orange lichen jut out into the ocean to separate a large collection of hidden away beaches.

Your day begins with an early morning pickup from your central Launceston hotel. On your way to the Bay Of Fires, you’ll stop in at Bridestowe Lavender Farm, home of Bobbie Bear, for views of the fairy-tale lavender paddocks. Your tour guide will provide an educational talk on the lavender, where it comes from, why they grow it and how they process it.

Then onto the Myrtle Rainforest Walk on the Welborough Pass for a short walk through lush moss covered trees and ferns. Your tour guide will talk about all the different trees found in Tasmania's rainforests such as, Myrtles, Sassafras, Blackwoods and Man Ferns which you will see along this refreshing walk.

Upon your arrival at the Bay Of Fires you will call into Binalong Bay for a beach experience on Tasmania's fluffy white east coast sand, then Harbour Point to view the granite rocks covered with orange lichen, then a beach walk along the remote Taylor’s Beach. Here, you’ll have free time to stroll along the white sands and take in the stunning landscapes.

After your beach excursion, you will get to sample fresh oysters straight from the farm at Lease 65. Other activities include viewing the fishing boats in St. Helens, perusing or purchasing fresh seasonal fruit, jams and sauces as well as fruit-filled ice-cream at Eureka Fruit Farm in Scamander before headingsouth to the St Mary’s Pass where you will head inland to pass through the contrasting grazing lands of the Fingal Valley and Northern Midlands. Great local intel

David or Dave, who runs the business, drives the van, and gives the tour, grew up in Launceston and shares his local knowledge of the area. As a farmer, he’s knowledgeable about the local industry and explained about opium poppies, fishing, etc. We learned about myrtle trees and how they steal nutrients from nearby fern plants!! Great walk in the rain forest! Bay of Fires is gorgeous. Lavender farm is lovely. As a vegetarian, I wasn’t sure how the oyster farm visit would go, but Dave had an alternative with local blueberries (very delicious!) and appreciated it very much!

Probably the best tour guide in Launceston

Very knowledgeable local guide with over 30 years of local tourism experience. Non stop sharing about everything of Tassie and Launceston, from tree types in the rainforest to the history of Australia/Tassie/Launceston. Love what he shared about the 4 economic pillars of Tassie. Super friendly and nice. Has high cultural awareness. Speaks over 24 multi lingual languages (Counting one two three when taking photos! Lol) Highly recommended!!!
