Discover the untouched beauty of Australia’s Northern Territory as you float overhead in a hot air balloon!

Your ballooning adventure begins an hour before first light when the outback sky is still dark and speckled with bright stars!

Watch as the balloon inflates and the sun starts to rise in the east. You'll ascend into the sky while admiring the stunning sunrise over the MacDonnell Ranges.

As you drift over this rugged landscape and take in its exceptional immensity, keep an eye out for native wildlife including the iconic Red Kangaroo and gain an appreciation of the remoteness of the area as the balloon glides across the landscape.

After your 60 minute flight, celebrate your landing with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and a light snack.

On occasion, the flight time may be two separate, sequential 30-minute flights taken one directly after the other with a short changeover in between the two flights, depending on operational restrictions. Passengers will be notified the day prior should this be the case on the day of their flight.

Aviation insurance charge is included: Mandatory aviation insurance charge of $30 per person is included in the price you pay below. There is nothing more to pay on the day.


***Balloon Chase***

A fantastic way to watch friends or family!

Our Balloon Chase option is perfect for those who would like to be involved in the hot air ballooning experience without taking the flight.

We’ll pick you up along with your group and you’ll learn all about how the Hot Air Balloons work before watching the balloon take to air!

You will stay on solid ground with the rest of the crew and travel through the desert tracks to the landing point where you will join your group for a glass of wine or fruit juice before returning to town.


** Pick-up time is approximately 1 hour before first light and please allow up to 4 hours for this tour.**

Bad Weather Refunds

  • If your experience is cancelled by the operator (because of the weather or anything else out of your control) you will be entitled to a full refund.

Notes

  • Physical fitness is not a requirement to enjoy a ballooning adventure, but passengers must be able to climb up and into the basket (approx. 1.2 metres in height) unaided using the basket foot holes and stand for the duration of the flight. Assisting the crew to pack up is entirely voluntary and does require some lifting.

    Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) rules and regulations and Outback Balloonings policy prevent us from flying women who are over 12 weeks pregnant. Pregnancy must be advised in advance. Illness and/or recent operations that may affect the person or other persons on the tour must be notified to Outback Ballooning in advance. Medication should be brought on the tour. Any form of disablement must be discussed with Outback Ballooning prior to making a booking. Each person is considered on an individual basis. The flight and carriage of any passenger will take place at the pilots discretion.

  • Child age is 6-16 years. Children 3-5 years are not recommended but considered on an individual basis.

    Cancellations - Passengers will not be given a refund if they: cancel their ballooning tour within 24 hours of departure no show on the morning of the tour or suffer cold feet on the launch field. No fee is charged for cancellations more than 24 hours before the flight.

    Please note: Depending on many operational factors, which vary each day, you may be on the ground or in the balloon when the sun is actually coming over the horizon or rising, either way you will still see an amazing dawn.

Worth the early morning alarm call. Sunrise over the dessert was a delight. The pilot was great and informed us extensively about all the scenery. And the support crew were also great to have have an informed chat and a joke with. The birds eye view and experience was a must do. Worth the alarm and recommended.

A great experience floating through the air.

It was an early start but worth it to catch the sunrise. Floating so high up and looking over the landscape was brilliant and slightly surreal. Very professional group and would recommend this experience.
