Justin Hernandez said... Our family had an experienced and introductory scuba excursion along with snorkelers. The staff was very organized and accommodating to everyone on board. The great barrier reef is definitely one to tick on your bucket list but even better if you have a guide because they are very familiar with the part of the reef they are taking you to. For example we saw octopus in a crevice and a turtle resting in a niche which we would have not spotted on our own with the allotted time. We also saw several cuttlefish and an area that had many garden eels. My daughter (14) had an introductory dive and was exhilarated so now she'll be getting certified. My wife and sons (12 and 9) talked about the large schools of colorful fish, coral, clams, jellyfish and even spotted sharks (nurse and white tip). We all received lycra suits to protect against the jellyfish that even covered your hands so the boys told me that they held some (boys will be boys). Overall ... wish we had more time to explore more parts of the reef.
