A region that changes from agricultural land, to scrub forest, to ancient rainforests, it is definitely a natural wonder which is worth exploring... Everything from ranges and waterfalls, to spectacular national parks and tea plantations.
Barefoot has been touring the waterfalls of Far North Queensland for over a decade. They love nature and the outdoors and have prided themselves on making it accessible, fun and informative. It’s a tour where you can see all different types of waterfalls, lookouts, lakes/craters within the World Heritage Rainforest and if you're lucky some of the endemic wildlife of the Tropics.
Places they frequent often include Josephine Falls, Babinda Boulders, Millaa Millaa falls, Lake Eacham and the glorious Fig Tree. There is a plenty of other alternatives each day and this varies daily… You will have numerous opportunities to swim throughout the day as well as stretch your legs out and explore the terrain. If you read through Barefoot’s website and some of their blogs, you will get a better idea of the region and how they can try to cater the day for each group. It is what sets them aside from the other tours out there.
Duration:Please allow up to 11hrs for the whole experience from start to finish, every day is a little different, depends on weather, road conditions & fun!
We enjoyed the tour a lot! There was lots to see and scenery was amazing . The tour guide was engaging and personable. My only suggestion for the Barefoot company is to improve their lunch food offerings: maybe to have more vegan/vegetarian options, lime gourmet pies and multigrain bread etc. It could be preordered and picked up from o e if the bakeries in Cairns on the same day.
Friendly and passionate guide guided us to some truly beautiful and amazing natural wonders of the world. Definitely a must do in cairns
The locations we visited were absolutely stunning and well worth a visit. Our problem was with our tour guide. He took absolutely no notice in any of the group apart from the two Danish girls he obviously was attracted to. All he wanted to do was take photos of them, even though they didnt want to at all. Everytime he needed help from someone, he'd grab them. Anytime he wanted to take a photo, it was of them. Maybe the best example was when we were stood by them and he ran over and said girls do you want to learn, do you want to learn? Then 30 seconds later when he had walked off with them decided to turn around and say to myself and my partner oh you can come as well if you want. I mean we had paid for the same tour! Or when he wanted a photo of the smallest person in the group next to a vine to show how big it was he completely ignored another girl who was by far the smallest just so he could try and place one of the Danish girls next to it. Then later on when at the natural water slide he ran up to the top, leaving everyone and only showed the two girls how to go down and the safest way to do so, before then going down himself and getting up the other side so he could film the girls. He also ran around everywhere, wouldn't wait for the group, just wanted to show off how strong he was or how well he could swim. All day all he kept talking about was vines stopping the car and walks to tell us all about the same vines constantly. Awful host!
Such a great, fun filled day at such a reasonable price! We went to 6 different locations which were all equally as beautiful, Josephine Falls has a natural rock slide which was definitely a highlight of the day. Daryl was our tour guide, he was amazing! Highly recommend this trip for all ages!
