Get ready to enjoy an island getaway without having to travel the distance! Located just 45 minutes from Cairns in tropical North Queensland, Fitzroy Island is a relaxed, friendly destination that is ideal for families and friends or as a romantic getaway.
Enjoy 2 days and 1 night on Fitzroy Island:
Day one: All aboard the MV Sunkist for a relaxing ride to Fitzroy Island, arriving at approximately 9.00am. Check-in for your resort is not until 2pm so the day is yours to explore! Fitzroy Island is a National Park so you can discover spectacular walking trails, see local wildlife and or simply relax on the beach and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Grab your snorkel equipment from the friendly team at Fitzroy Island Dive Centre and you can also get to go out on the glass bottom boat and see the abundant marine life. You can also rent sea kayaks and stand up paddle boards or even try diving! There’s an amazing turtle rehabilitation centre to see on the island as well.
The Resort: To complete your island experience you’ll stay in a gorgeous 3 star Butterfly Bungalow overlooking the calm sheltered waters on the beach. The bungalows are self-contained complete with an ensuite, small internal food preparation area, mini bar fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. You can bring your own food to the island, purchase items locally from the general store, and eat the delicious food from the Resort Restaurant and Café.
Accomodation is dorm style - 3-4 people max per bungalow. You may be in a mixed bungalow. If booking as a group you can book a bungalow to yourself
Day Two: Check out is at 10am, so you can spend the rest of the day enjoying more exploration before meeting at Fitzroy Island jetty at 3.15pm for departure back to Cairns.
You'll return home feeling completely relaxed and grinning ear to ear after a fabulous break away.
What to bring:
- Food - Bring your food with you and use the BBQ and cooking facilities, or bring money to eat at the restaurant on the island (Esky's aren't able to be brought on the boat however chiller bags are ok).
- Walking shoes if you wish to explore the island
- Small bag with clothes and items for your stay
