Here are 8 Iconic attractions to look out for:

THE STORY BRIDGE

Opened in 1940 and is known as one of Brisbane’s most iconic landmarks. Thousands of cars, pedestrians, and bicycles pass on this bridge everyday. If you’re up for an adventure, you can even climb the bridge!

THE MYORA SHIPWRECK

Only when the tide is low enough, can you see the Myora. The Myora is a steamship built in 1890 and was used for general services, fishing, and pleasure cruises. Although, in 1956 it sunk into the ocean. Now, mangroves anchor Myora to the river bank for all to enjoy.

HOWARD SMITH WHARVES

Great place for everyone in the family to enjoy. Whether you want 5-star dining, cocktails, or fish and chips, Howard Smith Wharves is a versatile space for all to enjoy with breathtaking views of the Story Bridge.

KANGAROO POINT CLIFFS

These cliffs are a natural landmark that dominates the inner-city suburb of Kangaroo point. It’s the perfect spot for amazing views, a picnic or BBQ. If you’re feeling up the adventure, you can even climb or abseil this 25 meter cliff face.

QUEENSLAND MARITIME MUSEUM

The Queensland Maritime Museum has a variety of historic ships. The HMAS Diamantia is one of the last World War II river-class frigate ships in the world. In fact, Diamantia is one of the two remaining ships in the world that hosted the surrender ceremony. The only other remaining ship is the USS Missouri on display at Pearl Harbor.

THE CHANNEL 7 WHEEL OF BRISBANE

Experience Brisbane from new heights with a 360-degree panoramic view of the river city.

BRISBANE SIGN

Originally set up temporarily as part of the 2014 G20 Summit, this is now a permanent attraction for tourists and now part of Brisbane's history & culture. Grab your phone and camera for an iconic picture!

GOODWILL BRIDGE

This bridge connects Southbank to Brisbane city Botanic Gardens and is mainly used for pedestrian and cyclists. Stop to enjoy a coffee with a view on this Iconic Bridge.

Restrictions

  • Minimum age: 8

  • -Children 16 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult.

    -Maximum weight for this activity is 120kg. However, this is flexible depending on your balance and coordination.

    -We accept groups of 10 or less for kayak hire

    Zero Tolerance Policy

    Absolutely no drugs or alcohol is permitted. If found to be in breach of this policy, you will not be able to participate and will not be able to reschedule or receive a refund. However, if you are looking to have a drink afterwards, we have alcoholic beverages available.

  • This experience welcomes families with children.

  • Kayak hire available all day - the last hire departs at 3 pm.

    FAQ:

    What do I wear?

    Wear clothes that are comfortable, e.g. activewear, and that you do not mind getting wet. Showers and change rooms are available onsite. Kayaking is a barefoot activity, but you are welcome to bring water shoes.


    How long does the hire last?

    This is a 2-hour activity. Please note, if you are late to arrive, you may not be able to enjoy the full two hours.


    What happens if I fall in?

    Whilst unlikely, people do capsize from time to time. This isnt a problem! Our friendly staff will teach you how to re-enter your kayak before you start your session.


    Do I need to know how to swim?

    Though you will be wearing a Personal Floatation Device (lifejacket), all participants hiring kayaks must be able to swim.


    Do you have tandem kayaks?

    We only have single kayaks at our Riverlife location, however, our Walkabout Creek Adventure property has tandem kayaks available for hire.


    Where do I meet for the activity?


    -Kayakers will depart from Riverlifes pontoon at Riverlife Adventure Centre, Naval Stores, Kangaroo Point. However, you will need to check in with us at the Adventure Centre first.


    Safety precautions:

    -Please Do Not Cross The River At Any Point Whilst Kayaking At Riverlife

    -If You Fall Out Of Your Kayak, Don't Panic! Every Riverlife kayaking participant is given a Personal Flotation Device (PFD)

Lovely

Staff were great. Was my first time kayaking and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Worst part was the stairs back up to the carpark in 33 degree heat! Great to see sunblock provided! Thanks team

It was a excellent experience had had so much fun and the day was perfect condition for the water U would highly recommend this activity to anyone a must do around the Brisbane River I am still happy the day after and will be back again as soon as I possibly can.

Adventurous

Lovely staff that did their best during a breakdown of an other branch. And could totally manage it. Kayaking itself was adventurous. Mostly because you are kayaking on a giant river with a lot of boats and ferry’s. So not the best “i never kayaked before and I want to try it” experience. But it was nice overall. But if you want to citytrip like we wanted just take a walk around the water unstead.
