The drive up through the hills, with stops at points of interest was delightful and there was plenty of time to taste and purchase at Beerenberg.
The paddle steamer cruise was leisurely and there was plenty of bird life, though the commentary was hard to hear and after a while few people stopped their conversations to listen. The meal was generous and tasty.
The village of Hahndorf was as charming as expected, though we would have preferred not to wander in the rain! Don't forget to visit the rabbits and you may even meet Muffin, the dog who calls in daily to sit and visit them for a few minutes.
We didn't bother going up to Mount Lofty since the views were non existent.
the minibus was comfortable (though a grab handle for the passenger by the door would be helpful) and Roger gave an informative commentary; we appreciated being picked up and dropped of at our small hotel, in comparison with other companies who preferred us to gather at a central point.
All in all, an excellent day out.
